  • Your Website Deserves the Same Care as the Rest of Your Technology
Business owner and technology adviser reviewing website administration, access and backup monitoring

Most businesses separate the website from IT. Marketing looks after one. The technology provider looks after the other.

We understand why. The website feels like a marketing asset because customers see the content, brand and enquiry forms.

Behind that public layer sits hosting, administrator access, plugins, backups, domain records, email delivery and third-party integrations. That makes the website part of the technology environment whether the reporting line reflects it or not.

A clear access list is a strong starting point

Websites accumulate users over time. A former agency still has an account. A developer created a privileged login for a project. Two plugins perform similar jobs. Nobody is quite sure which supplier maintains the backups.

The site can continue running for years in that state. The value of clear ownership becomes visible during an update, supplier change or security review.

Cyber.gov.au issued a critical alert on 9 July 2026 about a large-scale exploitation campaign targeting vulnerabilities in web content management systems. That alert is a timely reminder of the value of active ownership and regular maintenance.

What confident website ownership looks like

  • The business knows where the site is hosted and who controls the account.
  • Administrator access is limited to people and suppliers who still need it.
  • Plugins and integrations have a business purpose and an accountable owner.
  • Monitoring and backups are active, and someone is responsible for responding when they fail.
  • The domain, DNS and website arrangements are documented together rather than scattered across suppliers.

This does not mean the owner needs to manage WordPress or study security alerts. It means the business receives one accountable view of the digital service.

We think websites deserve the same governance conversation as Microsoft 365, phones and line-of-business applications. If customers depend on it or attackers can reach it, it belongs in the technology discussion.

If the access, hosting or maintenance arrangement is unclear, we will help map the services and identify who owns each part. The outcome is a cleaner arrangement, clear accountability and a website that receives consistent care.
